-------------------------------------------------------------------- >>>Staff will Load pins into the Robot Dewar BEFORE data Collection : >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> After your crystals arrive at the beamline a member of the staff will load them into the Robot Dewar's conveyor belt/chain, one at a time, up to a MAXIMUM of 54 Pins per load most likely starting at Cog or Chain position #1. Crystals placed on to the conveyor belt will be assigned a name. The name will be visable to you when you "mouse over" the "COG" in the BLUICE "SAMPLE" Tab. That name will automatically be loaded into the BLUICE Collect Tab AFTER the robot mounts the crystal onto the Goniometer. After your crystal is mounted on the goniometer you can, if you wish, change it's name, (prefix) and it's sub-directory name(s). ----------- >>> CASSETTES: >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Cassettes can hold up to 96 crystals in 12 Rows (A-L) and 8 Columns (1-8), and will need 2 separate loadings into the robot dewar if more than 48 Pins are in the cassette. If there are 48 or fewer Pins in the Cssette it will be possible to load ALL of the pins at one time, but ONLY IF the Pins in the Cassette are loaded into 6 or fewer Lettered ROWS. This is because we need to maintain a sane, simple, ordering of the pins in the Robot Dewar: Up to 6 (Letter Labeled) Columns of up 8 Pins each for each loading of the robot dewar. Their placement on the chain will mirror the sequence of their positions in the Cassette. >>> Cassette Naming Example: For a full cassette, the first load will be of Pins A_1 to F_8 mapped to Cogs 1 to 48 Cog# 1: /data/mcfuser/Institution/PI/18Jan2018/A_1/A_1_0_00001.cbf Cog# 2: /data/mcfuser/Institution/PI/18Jan2018/A_2/A_2_0_00001.cbf ... (see "Nota Bene", below) >>>>>>>>>>> Up to 10 Canes per Robot Dewar loading, for a max # of 50 Pins at a time. If sending canes Label them (Cane) 1,2,3,... If you absolutley MUST "Name" them other than "[1 2 3 ..]" MAKE SURE the Cane Label is LEGIBLE and READABLE. The Vial numbering on the Canes will be from 1 up to 5, with 1 being the lowest possible bottom position on the Cane, and 5 the highest. NOTE: If there is NO Vial at position 3, e.g., then that corresponding Cog or Chain position will NOT contain a Pin, either. >>> Cane Naming Example: Assuming the BL831 username is "mcfuser", these are examples of how the Pins from the various Vials will be named: Cog# 1: /data/mcfuser/Institution/PI/18Jan2018/C1_V1/C1_V1_0_00001.cbf Cog# 2: /data/mcfuser/Institution/PI/18Jan2018/C1_V2/C1_V2_0_00001.cbf Cog# 3: /data/mcfuser/Institution/PI/18Jan2018/C1_V3/C1_V3_0_00001.cbf ... Unless told to do otherwise, we will assume that your crystals are DEAD when they are ready to be unloaded. NO attempt will be made to keep them frozen nor to preserve their order when unloading them from the robot Dewar, UNLESS you tell us, which of crystals you want to save. IF you have samples which MUST be preserved after your run, we WILL make every effort to Carefully transfer them back into their starting cryogenic storage location under cryogenic conditions.
