After you have connected via NX, if bluice is not running and no terminals are open, then Open a terminal by "right clicking" in free area of the desktop, or else click on the "terminal" icon available from the "Activities" drop-down menu Type "go" in the terminal window, that will open an ADXV window, a calculator widget, and start BLUICE. <<<<<<<<<<<< >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <<<<<<<<< The following is not neccessary, but may be helpful >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> You can see various camera views if you open a browser and enter the IP address of our camera server, 192.168.4.130 ,as the URL address. Resize to a small window that just shows the 4 camera views: Upper Left: The "switched Mag Camera view" Low, Mid, High, depending on the position of the collimator stage Upper Right: The "Low Mag" camera looking down from above. Lower Left: The current view of the PTZ camera (view can be changed in BLUICE by selecting different "presets". Lower Right: The "beam-on-shutter_YAG" camera output, used for our feedback system. This is the X-Ray beam on the shutter. it goes away when the shutter is open, the beam goes down, or someone at the beamline opens the hutch. <<<<<<<<<<<< >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MOUNTing and DISMOUNTing Crystals: Crystals are mounted and dismounted from within the Sample TAB menu selection at the TOP of the bluice Window. Your Pins will be on "Cogs" of a conveyor belt/chain. The "Cogs" of the conveyor belt are Color Coded and listed in 5 Rows of Circles in the SAMPLE TAB C1 C2 C3 C4 C5 C6 C7 C8 C9 C10 C11 C12 C13 C14 C15 C16 C17 C18 C19 C20 C21 C22 C23 C24 C25 C26 C27 C28 C29 C30 C31 C32 C33 C34 C35 C36 C37 C38 C39 C40 C41 C42 C43 C44 C45 C46 C47 C48 C49 C50 C51 C52 C53 C54 The Color Coding is (usually) as follows: Black: Cog contains NO Sample Green: Cog contains a Sample that belongs to the user running bluice and may be mounted. Orange: Cog contains a Sample does NOT belong to this user. Mounting is NOT be allowed. Red/Pink: Cog is empty because that sample is Currently MOUNTED on the Goniometer. Hashed: Cog may or may not be empty, it's state is unknown: Mounting NOT permitted. This can happen after an aborted (dis)mount. Mouse over a Cog's Colored Circle to see the name of the sample. Select a Pin to mount by clicking on it's Cog, then Clicking the "Mount" button. Do nothing until robot has finished mounting the crystal! If a sample is already mounted, it will automatically be DISMOUNTed before the selected crystal is MOUNTed by the robot. This means you ONLY need to press the Mount button to to get your pin onto the goniometer, NOT the "Dismount" Button. After the crystal mount is complete, the collimator stage will move to the "Mid Mag" view. You will likely want to go the "Hutch TAB" -- the Top Left TAB of BLUICE, - OR - But you can stay in the "Sample Tab", and click on the "Sub-Tab" named "Sample", located on the Right Hand side. Click on the crystal or loop that you want to have in the beam. Rotate +/- 90 Degrees and Click on the sample again. That should be all you need to do at MidMag: Click on cystal, Rotate 90, Click on crystal. Then Click on HighMag. Once there, Center, rotate 90, center and translate your crystal. Specify snapshots parameters in the Collect TAB, as usual. Press DISMOUNT only after you are ALL DONE with your run. Your last crystal will then be put back into the robot Dewar. Best of Luck!
