******************************************************************************** COMMAND LINE Options FOR WRITING DVDs: ********************************************************** FIRST: How to make a DVD of processed data: backup_rimage.com /home/mcfuser/userdir/process_dir/ -regardless ******************************************************************************** For users, who'll get one DVD copy of their data, do this at the beginning of the week BEFORE the user starts taking data: ssh to server as mcfuser backup_rimage.com /data/mcfuser/ -since now -auto -realtime -splituser -note "User Copy" ******************************************************************************* Restarting backup_rimage.com DURING a user's run: ssh to server as mcfuser backup_rimage.com data/mcfuser -since last -realtime -splituser -note "User Copy" or: backup_rimage.com data/mcfuser -since hour -realtime -splituser -note "User Copy" or: backup_rimage.com data/mcfuser -since day -realtime -splituser -note "User Copy" "-since last" goes out and looks in /archive/files_xxxx.list for the last created job and finds the last file that was submitted to the robot for backup. This is NOT the way to start backup_rimage.com if it's the FIRST job AFTER a SYSTEM archive, since that last job will be for data that's a week or so old.) "-since hour" anything within last hour "-since day" anything within last day *************************************************************************** Backing up data from a particular file, onwards: ssh to server as mcfuser backup_rimage.com /data/mcfuser -since zzzz -realtime -splituser -note "User DVD" zzzz is a unique identifier of a file created just PRIOR to the FIRST file you want to backup-- (it can be a nuisance to find that file) ********************************************************************** For System backups, do this at the end of the week, when there are no users: ssh to server as mcfuser backup.com /data/mcfuser -copies 2 -since xxxx -note "System Archive" xxxx can be any of: /data/log/last_system_(thios, mcfuser, or plex)_backup.txt (The "last_" files are created as timestamps by backup_rimage.com when it completes.) ********************************************************************************** SWITCHING USERS (from plex to mcfuser, or vise-versa): backup_rimage.com should be running in the background whenever users are taking data. It only needs to be killed before switching users (mcfuser to plex, or vise-versa). If it's running in the background (as it most likely is), then entering "kill -INT nnnnn", where nnnnn is the process ID. does the same thing as "control C", allowing the process to end "nicely", i.e.finish creating the job for submission. ************************************************************************************ Some sketchy details: archive.bl831.als.lbl.gov is a windows machine which contols the DVD Robot. "/archive" is the name of the windows directory ,(/Rimage/Publisher Orders) which is shared on the server as "/archive". The following files are crated by backup_rimage.com and are writtenm to /archive: files_xxxx.list A text file of all /dir/filenames.ext which will be written to DVD, label_xxxx.txt Contains the name of the bit map image which Rimage will write on the DVD, label_xxxx.bmp The file refered to above, image_xxxx.iso The BIG tar'ed file which will be written to DVD. **************************************************************************** Restarting the DVD Robot: If everything is screwed up, power cycle the robot (switch in back just above power cord), and Restart computer: remember to click on OK when Production Server first starts, otherwise it takes a longer time to start. Note: the server is shared on this windows machine and mounts automatically, but you'll need the mcfuser password. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: DVD Robot model is :Rimage DTP1000 s/n U041443 www.rimage.com 1-800-553-8312 Rimage Call Center 2000 (Toll Free)--North America Fax: 952-946-4578 Mailing Address: Rimage Corporation 7725 Washington Avenue South Minneapolis, MN 55439 Attn.: Technical Support It's printer is "CD COlor PRinter IV" made by Primera Technology, inc.
